Cooling System
FAQ's
ANSWER:
It will stop certain types of coolant leaks. Leaks that are usually
sealed with stop leak are radiator or heater core leaks as long as they
are small pinholes. It will not seal cracks or seams that expand when the
part heats up. They also work good for seepage leaks around freeze plugs,
intake and head gaskets and porosity leaks in aluminum heads and blocks.
(Coolant seeping through the metal of the part due to bad casting.)
Things that it will not fix are leaks in hoses, a water pump shaft leak,
cracks or seams, and the radiator cap.
Even if the leak stops, there is no guarantee how long it will last. Quite
a few brands of cooling system stop leaks work by plugging up everything
leading to even more problems than you had before. It is best to have the
leak properly repaired without using these products, but if you had to use
one, get the problem fixed promptly.
