Battery
FAQ's
ANSWER:
The battery could be the problem. The only way to know for
sure is to test the battery to see if it's still good, check the
alternator and charging system to make sure it's working
properly and check to see if there is a current drain on the
battery when the vehicle is shut off.
The easiest way to check the battery
is to charge and load test it. If you do not have a way to do
this a-lot of auto parts stores will check your battery for
free. Or you can take the vehicle to a repair facility and have
everything checked.
To see if the charging system is
working (See
Alternator).
If the battery and charging system
are fine you need to check the electrical system. If the battery
runs down over night or when the vehicle sits for a few days,
something in the electrical system is draining the battery when
the vehicle is shut off.
Finding a hidden current drain can
be very time consuming. To find which circuit is the problem you
have to pull fuses with an ammeter connected to the battery
until you see the ammeter reading drop. Then you have to check
everything in that circuit to pinpoint the problem.
