Battery
FAQ's
ANSWER:
No. If your battery is no longer any
good and needs to be replaced or if you want a larger capacity battery
to run extra accessories you can install anything you want.
The term size in a battery is not
exactly its physical size. The bigger physical size of the
battery does not mean it is more powerful. Battery manufacturers
can cram a-lot of amps into smaller cases by varying the design
of the cell plates and grids.
Batteries come in many sizes, these
are referred to as group sizes. There are a-lot of different
group sizes and many aftermarket battery companies consolidate
group sizes to lessen inventory costs. Some battery replacements
may not fit the same as the original, but as long as it fits in
the battery tray without hitting anything or shorting out the
terminals, it's fine.
When replacing the battery make sure
the cold cranking amps ( CCA ) rating is at least the vehicles
manufacturers minimum requirement. The CCA rating on a battery
tells how many amps the battery can deliver at 0 degrees F. for
30 seconds and still maintain at least 1.2v per cell.
